DAVE YOUNG – SERIOUSLY FUNNY, PROFESSIONALLY UNHINGED!
Award-winning Irish comedian, singer, entertainer and all-round agent of chaos, Dave Young has built a reputation for delivering one of the wildest comedy shows in the country. With a Performing Arts Award for Outstanding Contribution to Comedy under his belt, Dave is proof that making a living out of talking nonsense can be a very serious business!
A Dublin native and natural-born performer, Dave’s career began far from the bright lights of showbiz. After working as a butcher and a laboratory assistant in a Dublin maternity hospital, he swapped scalpels and sausages for the stage – although, judging by some of his material, not necessarily in that order!
His big break came at Dublin’s legendary Olympia Theatre, launching a career spanning live theatre, television, music and film. He has appeared on The Late Late Show, The Saturday Night Show, The Miriam Show and The Breakfast Show, with film credits including The Commitments, The Snapper, The Van, Braveheart, Michael Collins, When Harvey Met Bob to list just a few.
Dave’s appetite for outrageous stunts is as legendary as his comedy. His “Chill-Blaine’s” campaign saw him suspended over Dublin’s River Liffey for 44 hours in a glass box – a very different take on David Blaine’s endurance stunts, complete with luxury comforts and silver-service meals! The campaign raised awareness of homelessness, and Dave later raised more than €50,000 for charity during RTÉ’s Celebrity ICA Boot Camp, reaching the final.
Not content with making audiences laugh, Dave has also starred as Fagan in Oliver at the Tivoli Theatre, performed in The Rat Pack at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre and beyond, and appeared as a special guest at the Meteor International Music Awards alongside major music acts. He is also an accomplished corporate host, having entertained audiences including Michael Buble and Michael Flatley, and regularly appears at Spain’s prestigious Marbella Ball.
A talented singer with a love of classic swing, Dave combines music and mischief in his recordings, including Seriously Frank, Shush While I Swing and Wired for Fun. His DVD releases include Dave Young Live, All Hushed Up, Up Till Now!, No Cutbacks on Laughter! and Dave Young’s Christmas Cracker.
Now touring internationally, Dave continues to bring his unique brand of madcap entertainment to stages across Ireland and Europe. Whether performing comedy, singing the classics or keeping a corporate audience on its toes, one thing is guaranteed: Dave Young is not your average night’s entertainment!
With new projects on the horizon, 2027 promises to be another busy year for a performer. “Normal has never really been Dave’s thing. He prefers his own recipe – a generous helping of madness, a dash of mischief and absolutely no instructions!”
Dave Young – Seriously Funny. And that’s putting it mildly!
