BIO
Dave Young is an Irish comedian. He gained notoriety for having one of the craziest comedy shows in the country and has been honoured with numerous industry accolades including the PERFORMING ARTS AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION TO THE COMEDY.
Personal Life
This natural born performer is an only child from Dublin. After leaving school he worked as a butcher and then as a laboratory assistant in a Dublin Maternity Hospital, all the while doing magic shows and performances before becoming a professional comedian. He lives in County Wicklow with his girlfriend and their daughter and divides a lot of his time touring Ireland and Europe.
Career
His first big break came at
Dublin’s Olympia Theatre,
where he was selected from
hundreds of audition hopefuls.
The show was a resounding
success and the start of many
stage and TV appearances
throughout Europe. During his late teens he formed his own band and played the local pubs and clubs of the capital where he featured as the lead singer. It soon emerged that he had a unique talent for making people laugh, which led to him going solo with his own brand of zany comedy.
While touring with his show he also appears on TV programmes “The Late Late Show”, “The Saturday Night Show”, “The Miriam Show” and "TV3 Breakfast Show" with parts in the movies “The Commitments”, “The Van”, “The Snapper”, “Brave heart”, “Michael Collins” and "When Harvey Met Bob".
Young brought a national
news campaign called
“Chill-Blaine’s” to raise
awareness and funding for
the plight of Irelands
homeless community. As a
parody to Magician David
Blaine’s 44 days of starvation
and depravation in a glass box over the river Thames, Young was suspended for 44 hours over Dublin’s river Liffey in his own glass box full of luxuries and meals delivered by silver service waiters. He is now the charities leading celebrity patron and recently brought in over €50,000 from telephone voting when he appeared in the popular RTE Television series “Celebrity ICA Boot camp” where he made it to the final.
Other stage and theatre roles have seen him star as Fagan in "Oliver" at the Tivoli Theatre and he also appeared in the “Rat Pack” which played in the Olympia Theatre, Dublin and also theatres in Cork and Belfast. He was a special guest star at the Meteor International Music Awards Dublin’s 3 Arena alongside Amy Winehouse, Westlife, Ronan Keating, The Kaiser Chiefs and Pussycat Dolls.
He is also an accomplished presenter where he works on the Corporate Event scene and has played host to Jack Charlton and Michael Flatly. He appears annually as a Special Guest Star at the hugely successful “Marbella Ball” in Spain.
He is currently touring
internationally, with his
hilarious and outrageous show
“LAUGH HARDER” as well as
appearing on and keeping
audiences entertained for
various TV shows.
His Discography includes; “Seriously Frank” & “Shush while I swing” and "Wired for fun" a compilation of his favourite songs with a comedy twist. His DVD releases are “Dave Young Live”, “Dave Young All Hushed Up”, “Dave Young Up till Now!”, “Dave Young No Cutbacks on laughter!” and "Dave Young's Christmas Cracker".
He is currently negotiating a TV series deal with his own particular style of madcap comedy.
2018 is set to be a very busy year for The funniest comedian on the planet!
